The Murillo Story:
We are proud to guarantee the Murillo quality. We want to share with you the painstaking steps involved in producing Murillo so that when you and your guests drink Murillo, you know you're drinking the best gourmet coffee there is. The coffee beans used to make Murillo are grown in the highlands of the provinces of Cundinamarca and the Boyaca Andean regions of Colombia, South America. The soil in these parts infuses in the beans its characteristic aroma and precise acidity. The coffee plantations are family owned and worked. The local cultural practice, passed from generation to generation, of giving each coffee tree an almost individual care and the absolute minimum use of chemical fertilizers sets these plantations apart from their commercial counterparts. The harvesting is all done manually, tree by tree, to assure that only those berries that reach optimum maturation perfection are selected. The berries are collected in baskets made by local artisans and taken to the post-harvesting or "beneficiating" site for the first step in the coffee bean processing.
